Text: 1 Kings 7:1-14
The Temple that Solomon is building is for the worship of Yahweh. This Temple will replace the Tabernacle, the beautiful tent, and its furnishings, that Israel carried around for about four hundred years. But now Israel is settled in the land and Yahweh has chosen Jerusalem as the capital city (Deut.12). The Temple is a glorious structure, and the different articles of furniture were magnificent.
Only a highly skilled person would be permitted to do the work. Hiram, from the nation of Tyre, is the man God prepared for the work. Hiram was filled with wisdom, skill, and understanding for the task.
Two things to notice here; First, Yahweh had prepared a man who was a foreigner to do the work on His Temple. Even though Israel was the nation through which God revealed His covenant and salvation, He had always saved people from other nations and included them in His covenant. Second, as we have been learning in these DAYBREAK series lessons, God is the One who enables us to work. We should never be prideful, and we should always do our work humbly before others and worshipfully before the One who saved us by His substitutionary death.
Meditate on verse 13. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You for choosing me to be in Your ministry. I was once lost with no God. Amen.
