Text: 1 Chronicles 19:1-19
The Ammonites were related to Israel because their ancestor was the son of Lot, who was the nephew of Abraham. When the Ammonites got a new king, David sent a message of condolences for the death of their late king, and honour to the new king. But the messengers were mocked and abused. This is the same as abusing King David and Yahweh. So, Israel went to battle against them, defeated them, and some of the enemy became servants to Israel.
Before Apostle Paul was converted, he persecuted Christians. But King Jesus said Paul was persecuting Him (Acts 9:4). Satan (and unbelievers) cannot touch God, so he attacks the people of God, especially those who proclaim the message of grace. But the Lord sees that as attacking Him, so He will go to war against the enemy (Mark12:9). We all know the fear attached to speaking to others about Christ. But do not be afraid. The Lord is with you. What can man do to you?! (Psalm118:6; Mat.10:28). People need to hear the message of God’s saving grace in Jesus.
