Text: Psalm 133:1-3
Satan’s number one goal is to divide the church. We grieve at how effective division, politics, and various other wrangles have destroyed our church fellowship. There is a sweetness and power in a loving spiritual community, for it radically changes the lives of those who experience it.
Satan knows all too well how powerful this transformation is; so he is an expert at bringing arguments and hatred. Before one realises what is happening, the precious loving atmosphere of encouragement and spiritual maturity is gone, and the joy that “bubbles” in unity has been blown away.
The oil used on the priest in an anointing ceremony was special, for it gave him a very strong perfume like fragrance that was pleasant to all who witnessed his consecration. So, it also is with true loving unity in fellowship,
for this makes the Gospel life attractive to others, and motivates them for true spiritual change. The wonderful result is a maturity that lasts and endures under pressure, which builds up the church in a powerful way.
Commit yourself to be the peacemaker and unifier in your church!
Meditate on verse 1. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Our Rock and loving Father, in the name of the Omnipresent Shepherd Jesus Christ, I pray for unity of Your flock in the body of Christ. Amen.
