Text: Ezekiel 44:1-31
For so many years the Levites were not faithful to Yahweh; they also served
false gods (v.10). Although they continue to slaughter the animals brought into the Temple by the people, Yahweh does not allow them to minister to Him in the sacrifices or handling of the blood. Only the descendants of Zadok could do those responsibilities. Zadok was the Priest who served in the time of King David. He was faithful to David and to Yahweh. As a reward for his/their faithfulness, Yahweh granted to them the privilege of ministering directly to Him in the new Temple.

In God’s eternal plan of redemption, these Zadokites are foreshadows/types of the Lord Jesus Christ, our great High Priest. Jesus alone is worthy to stand before the Father on behalf of His people. Jesus obeyed God’s commands perfectly; Jesus paid the death penalty of His people, bringing His own blood before God; Jesus broke the power of death and even now is praying for His people.

Meditate on verse 15. What is God teaching you in this verse? How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I praise Your name for many faithful
people who have served You diligently. I pray that I will remain faithful to You and not deviate from serving and worshiping You, in spirit and truth. Amen.
