Sunday, 15th August 2021. Wine is a mocker
Text: Proverbs 20:1-30
Wine is a mocker and any strong drink is a brawler (v. 1). Wine rages in
the body as it rages in the conscience. It makes one look like a fool or
sometimes like a madman. It has rendered many to be unfit in society.
It weakens the body making it susceptible to diseases. It leads one to
do certain things that he/she would otherwise avoid in sobriety. Many
times these actions endanger one’s health as it compromises one’s right
judgment. Instead of filling yourself with wine, be filled with the Holy
Spirit (Eph. 5:18).
Meditate on verse 1. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for the many whose
lives have been affected by alcohol. May You give the ability to repent
and seek forgiveness from You. Amen.
