TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 3:1-21
The name “Samuel”, means “God has heard”. Samuel was a prophet and
he acted as a bridge linking the patriarchs, judges and Kings. The Lord
could communicate with Samuel which is a sign of favour from the Lord
(v.1). Samuel began his ministry at a time when the Word of the Lord was rare (v.1), meaning that God had withheld His Word because He was displeased with the actions of Eli and his sons. We see the grace of God in that; God is revealing Himself to Samuel who had not known Him (Lord) (v.7). Samuel was a “hero” because he ministered to the Lord (v.1)
by faith because he did not know God that well yet.

Samuel was a shadow of Jesus Christ. He grew in stature and in favour
with God and people (2:26), and so was Jesus Christ who grew in wisdom, stature and in favour with God and man (Luke2:52). Jesus Christ is the perfect link between sinful man and Holy God (John14:6). Without Christ as your Saviour and Lord, you cannot enter heaven, you are destined to hell. You receive Christ by faith through prayer.

Meditate on verse 1. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, may the Holy Spirit speak
to me always through His Word. Amen.
