Text: 2 Kings 17:1-41
The nation of Israel was created by God. About 1300 years before Israel was destroyed, Yahweh made a covenant with Abraham. Through him a nation would be created, physical and spiritual, and through this nation would come the Saviour. God delivered them from Egypt by great power and miracles, brought them into the Promised Land, and defeated their enemies. All of it was for their well-being and for His glory. But they turned away from all that, despised Yahweh, and served false gods. God warned them for three hundred years, but they refused to repent. So, God destroyed them.

Despite what happened to Israel, and in spite of what we might see with our eyes, King Jesus continues to build His Kingdom. According to the lessons we read in Scripture, if a church ignores the Saviour Jesus, ignores the Scripture, and serves other powers, then that congregation will be removed. If you are a Church leader, keep your heart and ministry focused entirely on our Deliverer, Jesus, as He is revealed in Scripture. Also, you must keep Christ’s people close toward the Lord. And remember in times of backsliding, the gate to repentance and restoration is always open (Mat. 11.28).

Meditate on verse 13. What is God teaching you in this Verse? How are you
going to respond to it?
Our heavenly Father, help us as a nation to apply Your Word to our lives. Let our steps be guided by the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
