Text: Ezekiel 8:1-18
“and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the gateway of the inner court that faces north, where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy”, (verse 3, ESV). The Church of our Lord Jesus Christ is supposed to be a safe place. Yet we seem to be geniuses at bringing in our own idolatry and agendas.
In Exodus 20, Yahweh revealed himself as a jealous God, and this was not a weakness nor a sin, but a righteous and holy response in His character. Our worship must focus only on Him! We should never entertain even for a second to think that God will not judge His church when we fail in this regard. For He is very passionate about His presence with us! If we pollute our worship with things that the Bible does not allow, how can we expect to receive the blessings that worship was designed for?
Ezekiel remembers the very day and hour that he received this vision from God; it was of his own people insulting Yahweh by worshiping other gods in the same space He made for the worship of Himself! It must have made a deep impression on his mind, for the consequences were terrible: “And though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them” (v.18). We all need His presence, and it is a must that we worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Please pray today that your worship will
be focused and honoring our Father!

Meditate on verse 3. What is God teaching you in this verse? How are you going to respond to it?
Our Lord and Almighty Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for healing of our land from witchcraft, idolatry and the shedding of innocent blood. Amen.
