Text: 1 Kings 4:1-34
Any wise king will place wise people in positions of his government. This is what Solomon does in this passage. One man, Zabud, is also mentioned as being the King’s friend! Even though Solomon was given wisdom by God, God also says in Scripture that wisdom is gotten from many counselors (Prov.15.22).

Solomon did a wise thing. As we will see soon in this book, Solomon’s son foolishly gathered fools around him, as his counselors (1 King12:10-11).
Our King Jesus needs no one, He needs nothing. He is the Creator and Sustainer of everything. However, King Jesus is pleased to use people to do His Will.

When He created Adam, His instructions were for the man to have dominion on the earth. When Jesus brings someone into His Kingdom, He gives them gifts/abilities to serve His people (Rom.12:4-8). Jesus even calls us His friends (John15:15). If you are in leadership, do not be arrogant. Always seek advice from elders and those others known to be wise. We all need counsel.

Meditate on verse 29. Are there areas that God has answered your prayers?
Praise the Lord for His faithfulness, God answers prayers.
Heavenly Father, the Lord of heaven and earth, thank You for answering my prayers. Help me to thankfully receive from You all answers, especially those that seem to contradict what I had prayed for. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
