Text: Romans 14:1-23.
“Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things,” verse 1 [NKJV]. In this chapter we see that Christ’s power is able to bring unity in diversity to which the devil is always ready to use one man’s unredeemed flesh to create division and destroy that unity. Mature strong believers both; Jews and Gentiles, had conflict with immature or weak believers. Weak in the sense that a Jewish believer was unable to let go of the past religious ceremonies and rituals of the past. For the weak Gentile believer, because of the past pagan belief and idolatry, he felt anything related to the past including eating meat which had been offered to idols would make him indulge in sin. In both cases, Jews and Gentiles were not mature as to be free from those convictions. Therefore the need to slowly accommodate them, as mature believers exercised their freedom in Christ Jesus.
Meditate on verses 1-3. How are you going to apply them to your life and Church?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to exercise well my freedom in Christ. Amen.
