Text: Isaiah 37:1-38
On hearing the threat from the Assyrian King, Sennacherib, King Hezekiah tore his clothes and covered himself with sack cloth as a sign of grief, repentance and brokenness before the Lord. He was to lead the nation into repentance. He entered the house of God, the temple, which was a house of prayer (56:7); Matt 21:13; Mark 11:17, Luke 19: 46). The Lord answered King Hezekiah that King Sennacherib will be defeated and killed in his own land (vv. 6-7). Indeed Sennacherib was later attacked and killed in his own land by his own sons (vv. 36-38).
Our God who creates a way where there seems to be no way will defeat our enemies however strong they may seem to be. Let us trust Him in the name of Jesus Christ.
Meditate on verse 1. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that the leaders of this nation will repent of their evil ways and ead our people into repentance and forgiveness. Amen
