Text: Deuteronomy 33:1-29
Moses’ final duty as the prophet of God for the people is to speak words of blessing upon the nation (vv.1-5). Moses begins by reminding the people that Yahweh is their deliverer (v.3a), He gave them His covenant law (v.3b) and thus Yahweh is their King (v.5). He is the One who made Israel into a nation.

The same is true of Christ’s Church. Although we who belong to His Kingdom are scattered all over the world, we are all His nation. Jesus tells the disciples, “I will build My Church”. And when Jesus left this earth, He raised His arms and blessed His “sons”, the disciples (Luk.24:50). We are Christ’s people, His nation.

His blessings of grace are upon us and in us. One day, we all will be gathered around the throne as the true eternal Israel, gathered from every tribe and language and people, worshipping Him forever (Rev.7:3-12).
Meditate on verse 3. What is God teaching you in this verse?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, may You bless our nation, may You bring love and reconciliation in our communities to the glory of Your name. Amen.
