Text: Judges 18:1-31
The spiritual error learned in Chapter 17 is increased from one man to an entire tribe (v.19). The men of the tribe of Dan went to battle against some Canaanites, in Laish; they first came to the house of Micah and spoke to his Levite priest to ask him about the result of the coming battle. The Levite said it would be successful, and it was. The men of Dan returned to Micah’s house, took his idols, the garment, and the Levite, so that he would be the priest of the entire tribe of Dan. The bad spiritual condition of one man was now spread to an entire tribe.

Scripture teaches that sin is like leaven, yeast (1Cor.5:6). When it gets into the dough it spreads through the whole batch. When sin gets into the life of a person or of a church, it must be stopped, or it will grow and destroy (James 1-15). But humanity is not able; so we need a Saviour.
Jesus cleanses each of His people (1John1:7) individually. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we must now live as those who have been cleansed, and we must help one another walk in righteousness.

Meditate on verse 19. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Our holy and living God, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that you change me and other Ugandans into people who can worthily call upon Your Name; and deliver us from all evils in our land. Amen.
