Text: Psalm 145:1-21
At the heading of this Psalm (Hebrew v1) we read that it is a psalm of praise written by David. In this psalm King David lists many things that cause us to praise Yahweh for who He is and what He has done. When we look at creation, we see how beautiful and powerful God is. That is why David says in verse 10, “… your faithful followers will praise you” (LASB). David also says in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens proclaim the glory of God…” (LASB). One of the reasons Yahweh
destroyed Egypt was so that the world would know His greatness (Exod.9:16).
Proclaiming the greatness of God is the main purpose of the gospel. Regarding our theme in this edition of DAYBREAK, let’s look at two principles. First, two sides of a coin: When people know that you are a Christian, and you do your work well, you bring honor to Christ. But, when they see you doing work poorly, with a poor attitude, it will reflect poorly on the Lord (Rom.2:24). Second, just as God is praised because of His work, so we must do our work well. Perhaps we will be praised and thanked, perhaps not. The people said of Jesus, He does all things well (Mark 7:37). We too must do our work well, like God does, and thus our work becomes worship.
Meditate on verse 10. What are you learning from this verse?
Our heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, let all Your creation give thanks to You, let your people bless You. Amen.
