Text: 2 Chronicles 9:1-31
The nation of Sheba was, perhaps, southern Arabia, or Ethiopia, or northern Sudan. King Solomon welcomed many VIPs, but this visit is recorded in Scripture, so it must have been especially important. The wealth of everything she saw was far greater than she had been told! The Queen then blessed Solomon, and his people, by her words of acknowledgment that Yahweh was the source of all that she saw.
Solomon’s wealth was splendid, but it’s only superficial, temporary. Jesus
said the flowers were more glorious (Mat.6:29). Solomon’s riches were surely amazing, but it all was given to him by the King of kings, Jesus Christ, who created everything and owns everything. And as magnificent as Solomon’s gold was, our union with Christ is more pure than the finest gold (1 Pet.1:7).
Beloved reader, get your heart off the treasures of this world, which are coming to an end. Set you affections on Christ, your Glorious King and Saviour. One day, He will share everything with you, to the praise and glory of His name.
Meditate on verse 8. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, blessed be Your name. May You be delighted in our land. Amen.
