Text: Ezekiel 38:1-23
Gog is probably a person from an area that has his name. He may even be symbolic.
Gog comes against Israel with five other kings. But this war is still in a distant future, after Israel is returned from exile, settled and undisturbed by any other enemies. These nations will be brought by God against His people (v.16), then He will destroy the nations. This event shows Israel that Yahweh will always be with His people, and the victory will glorify Him.
As we mentioned two days ago, Christians and churches face opposition of many kinds.

Opposition does not mean Christ is weak or unloving but the Lord has a purpose. When things are going well, we Christians easily drift away from the Lord. So, the Lord sends trials of many kinds, which cause us to look to the Lord. The Lord gave Apostle Paul a physical problem because of pride (2 Cor.12). The Lord sent persecution to the early Jerusalem church so that they would be scattered and go into the world and preach (Acts 8:4). When you face difficulties that are not due to sin, trust that the Lord has a good purpose for you.

Meditate on verse 23. What is God teaching you in this verse?
My heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank You for loving me, and especially for revealing Yourself to me. You have a purpose and plan for my own good in Your service. Amen.
