Text: Isaiah 39:1-8
It is said the Babylonian Prince, Merodach- Baladan, sent letters to King Hezekiah for two main reasons; 1. He wanted an alliance with Hezekiah to fight against the Assyrian King. 2. The Sun was a god to the Babylonians and on hearing that the sun went back ten degrees in respect to Hezekiah healing (38:3), he deemed it fit to honour Hezekiah. However, because of several miracles in his favour, Hezekiah developed pride. There was no need to show his treasures to the Babylonian envoys who later came and plundered the country. It is only in Christ that genuine humility is achieved.
You realise that Isaiah went to Hezekiah uninvited (v3). However, he was diligently watching what was going on. As a child of God you need to watch and be proactive.
Meditate on verse 3. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me the ability to be alert, to watch and pray. Amen
