Text: Jeremiah 21:1-14
Jeremiah had prophesied of the destruction of Jerusalem (vv. 1-14). The people did not take him seriously. However, in the heat of war against Babylon, King Zedekiah sought help from God, without acknowledging and repenting of his sins (v.2). In unexpected response, Jeremiah told him of serious impending defeat and destruction by the King of Babylon (vv.3-7). Notwithstanding, the strategic position of Jerusalem, in which people had taken great pride, God promises to destroy the City (v.13).

Today, many people do a lot of evil; but expect help from God. Some follow both God and the world, depending much on what, in their perception, works for them. We must choose to follow Christ alone, and Him crucified (1 Cor. 2:2).

Meditate on verse 12. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Merciful and ever loving Father in heaven, we are grateful that You always give us a second chance to choose between life and death. May Your Spirit guide us into choosing life by following Christ alone. In the name of Jesus Christ we have prayed. Amen.
