“…Son of man, stand up on your feet, and I will speak to you.” Even though we are stained with sin, our loving Father is not ashamed to call us His servants.
His very own spirit flows within us in order to speak to His people. And what a sinful people we are! Ezekiel was called to speak plainly to the rebellious generation that was chased from Judah, and also to the new generation being brought up in Babylon. Both were still rebellious, and they had not yet listened and obeyed the message of judgement! Worse still, God told His new prophet that people were unlikely to take his message seriously! This is the call for faithfulness to you and me. Faithfulness requires that we ignore the apathy that people will have towards God’s message. The success or failure is in God’s hands; you and I are called to be faithful, whether we are well received or not. Are you willing to be faithful?

Mediate on verse 1. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Ever loving Father in heaven, I pray that You give me the spirit to listen to, and obey You as You speak to me, irrespective of whether Your message to Your people, through me, is well-received or not. In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
