Text: Jeremiah 26:16-24
It is interesting to note that the political leaders, elders, not priests stood with Jeremiah and advocated for him not to be killed, basing their reasoning on a previous prophesy of Prophet Micah, in the reign of King Hezekiah. Jeremiah is spared as key people in authority defended him; but they missed out on the main point; the application of the story. They needed to repent and receive mercy from God. So, with the pleading of political leaders and elders, also with the influence of Ahikam, who had big influence over princes, Jeremiah was spared. Ahikam was also an official in the reign of King Josiah (2 Kings 22:12).

Meditate on verse 19. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Almighty Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that You send Your Holy
Spirit to encourage Your servants all over the world, especially in areas where they are under persecution and are unable to speak for themselves. Amen.
