Text: Mark 3: 1-35
Today’s passage begins a second parallel theme, answering the question: is
everyone who receives a miraculous physical healing in God’s family?

What about the many who crowd around Jesus? As Mark shows in this chapter the answer to all these questions is ‘no.’ Note how Jesus looked at those who did not respond to the good news with faith and obedience in verses 5 and 35. The great problem right through this passage is that Christ is telling us that one can live for many years very close to Christ (vv.32-34), see His miracles (v. 2-3) and feel the perfection of His life and the power of His Word, and yet not be in the family of God at all. Notice the reason why Jesus was angry at those who were still locked up in the traditions (v. 5).

Does Jesus Christ look at you in the same way?
Reflect on verses 5 and 35. How do these verses apply to you?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You for the work of salvation that Jesus Christ accomplished for me on the cross. It qualifies me to be Your child, and indeed the brother of Jesus Christ. Amen.
