Text: Mark 13:24-37
Jesus describes to His disciples the chaos that will occur on His second coming.
The sun will be darkened, meaning that as the universe begins to fall apart the sun will go black. The moon will stop giving light. The stars of heaven will fall, meaning that the heavenly bodies will begin to move in a disorderly manner through space. And the power in heaven will be shaken, meaning that God will let loose all forces of energy that hold all things together (vv. 24-25).
It is scaring, isn’t it? Take heart in the midst of this chaos, Jesus Christ will
appear in clouds with great power and glory (v. 26). Jesus also assures us that His Word will not pass away; the Word that assures me to be a child of God will not pass away! As the universe disintegrates be sure you are in Christ!!
Meditate on verse 26. How are you prepared for it?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me prepare for Your
second coming, in assurance that “Jesus is mine” and is my refugee;
confident that Your Word never fades or changes. Amen.
