Text: Matthew 19:16-30
This passage teaches that there is nothing a person can do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus says it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. He does not mean crawling through a very small gate. Jesus means the hole on a sewing needle, and if a camel can go
through that, then a man can work his way into heaven. The twelve disciples were amazed at Jesus’ saying, because they understood He meant it is impossible for anyone to make their way into heaven. But Jesus comforts His disciples by assuring them that God has made the
way for their salvation.
We also should be amazed at Jesus’ Words. We also understand there was something the twelve disciples did not know at that time. We know the impossible was made possible for us by God. We know that Jesus lived a perfect, righteous life for us, and He paid our death penalty. Jesus also gave us His Holy Spirit to dwell within us, to transform us, and to enable us to live a life pleasing to God. Our obedience does not purchase salvation, nor contribute to it, Jesus did everything. He transformed us into children of God. Obedience is the way we show our gratitude and love, which is the fruit of a transformed life. Do you love the Lord? If so, show it by your life deeds.
Meditate on verse 24. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You for Your love that saved me. It is a miracle that You saved me by Your grace. Amen.
