Text: Psalm 80:1-19
This Psalm was mostly written in Jerusalem. It registered surprises in the manner in which the ten northern tribes were captured into exile in 722B.C. This was because these tribes had abandoned God and His blessing as contained in the Mosaic Covenant.
The Psalmist therefore is begging God to restore them into His blessing (vv. 3, 7, 14, 19). As a child of God, you are His vine for He delivered you from the power of sin just like God delivered His children from Egypt (v. 8). A vine is God’s Israel, and indeed you are, in Christ.
Meditate on verse 7. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, restore us and forgive us for we have sinned against You. Cause Your face to shine upon us. Amen.
