Text: 1 John 2:15-17.
“For all that is in the world – the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions – is not from the Father but is from the world,” (verse 16). Be careful with the teachings from those socalled “men and women of God” of these days.
Their teachings are in pursuit of earthly riches and miracles at the expense of knowing Jesus Christ personally, the greatest miracle one will ever get. These fleshly teachings should be avoided. God might give you riches and good health, or he might not, but these should not be our focus. These are short sighted. Let us learn from our hero, Jesus Christ, He loved sinners and spent time with them while maintaining a commitment to the values of the Kingdom of God.
Reflect on verse 16, what is God teaching you in this verse, how are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, forgive me when the desires for earthly things have been very strong. Give me the ability to balance, to work hard and attain wealth but also to know that it is only You who give wealth and health. Amen.
