Text: Revelation 22:6-21.
“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in
this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this book,” (verses 18-19). God has Himself written His Word, the Bible, through His chosen specific people.
The Bible is complete and true and one cannot add or subtract even a dot from it. The above is a serious warning to those who might purposely try to distort the message of the Bible. Human explanation or interpretation of God’s Word should never be elevated to the same authority as the text itself. Watch out you who unnecessarily quote people’s write ups and sayings equating them to the Bible truth.
However, quoting our pastors and teachers is ok, as long as they are correct. God did give us teachers to quote the Bible, the authority from God. The pastor has authority from God, the Bible says so.
Reflect on verses 18-19, what lessons have you learnt from them? How are you going to apply them to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, forgive me where I have mishandled Your true Word, the Bible. Help me to always apply it
properly. Amen.
