Text: Ezekiel 7:1-27
“Disaster comes upon disaster; rumor follows rumor. They seek a vision from the prophet, while the law perishes from the priest and counsel from the elders”, (verse 26, ESV). The human mind is strange, a weird thing. It goes through phases of temporary madness, where for a brief moment we convince ourselves that there are no consequences for sin. The warning, the guilt, the shame, are all creatively set aside until one day the results of our choices hit hard.

There is a moment of intense fear, then in the next moments a million choices lie before us. At moments like this, it certainly does not feel as if the Lord loves us as deeply as He does. Yet consequences are often the most clear and most effective way our Lord gets us to Spiritually wake up. He allows just the right circumstances by which we can see how destructive and selfish we have been. As painful and difficult as this process is, with time and spiritual growth we learn to be thankful for the lesson
learned. God is faithful to His people.

Meditate on verse 26. What is God teaching you in this verse? How are you going to respond to it?

Faithful and ever loving Father, I thank You that, despite my ever rebellious heart, Your faithfulness to me never wavers. Teach me, O Lord, that I may learn lessons from my failings. In the name of Jesus Christ, my Saviour, I have prayed. Amen.
