Text: 2 Chronicles 33:1-20
When godly King Hezekiah died, his son, Manasseh, became King. But he was a God-hater. He did not live or rule the way his father did. He worshipped false gods and re-built the places of idolatry that his father destroyed. He also burned his children in false worship, and he even built altars for false worship right inside Yahweh’s Temple! The people behaved as the King did. So, God once again sent the nation of Assyria against Judah. They captured the King and took him away. However, Manasseh humbled himself before Yahweh and prayed for deliverance. God delivered him, returned him to Jerusalem, and Manasseh carried out reforms in worship, returning to Yahweh. Yahweh is faithful to His Word.

If we genuinely belong to Yahweh, because of His grace, by trusting in Jesus
Christ, then God will never abandon us. When we go astray, our God and King, the Lord Jesus, will go after us. The process of bringing us back to Himself might be very painful, but it is eternally better than losing our souls to hell. He is faithful to keep those He promised to save. Every day trust in Jesus Christ, and live a life of grateful, loving obedience.

Meditate on verses 12-13. What is God teaching you in these verses?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we repent of all the evil we have committed. Forgive and cleanse us with the blood of Jesus Christ. Amen.
