Text: Romans 13:1-14.
“Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for consciences’ sake,” verse 5 [NKJV]. To be subjected means absolute obedience to the authority. The only exception to this command is when in the process of obeying the civil authority you disobey God’s Word. For conscience’s sake, it means that you obey out of sense of obligation to God and not just to avoid punishment from civil authority.
In Uganda today, are people obeying the civil authority in place? Should they obey it? According to you, if people obeyed civil authority or politicians today would they be disobeying God’s Word? Think through carefully and do not rush. Meditate on verse 5. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me not to disobey You in the process of following my civic and political leaders. Amen.
