Text 2 John Verse 9
For you to know God, you must abide in the doctrine of Christ (v.9). The fundamental and sound doctrines of faith are a proper view of the Person and work of Jesus Christ, love and obedience. If someone goes against or does not practice such basic fundamentals then it shows he has never been saved before. (1 John2:23, 3:6-10,4:20-21, 5:1-3). To “abide” means to constantly adhere to, and the fundamental are not open to change so as to suit the latest trends/fashion or philosophical fad.
God’s Word is the constant truth all the time!
Meditate on verse 9. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to abide and practice the basic fundamentals of love for You and obedience to Your Word. Amen.
