Text: 2 Kings 1:1-18
When Ahab died, his son, Ahaziah, becomes King of Israel. The Book of 2
Kings begins with Ahaziah injuring himself. Of course, he wants to know if his injury will be fatal, so he sends a messenger to ask an idol about the outcome.
Yahweh, the God of Israel, becomes angry and promises that the King will die.
When the King chose a lifeless idol and rejected the one true and living God, Yahweh, who is life, the King chose death, and death is what Yahweh gave him.
Even when King Jesus was about to be arrested and killed by wicked men (by God’s eternal plan) He entrusted Himself entirely into the hands of His Father.

He did that because it was necessary for the good of His people, for their
salvation from sin. In your Christian life, do not ever seek the help of any false god, nor of a witchdoctor, nor of ancestors, etc. Love, trust, serve, and worship the Lord Jesus Christ only.

Meditate on verse 3. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Holy and Living Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, forgive us as a nation for worshiping idols, even though many of us know that there is only one true God, the Lord of heaven and earth. Amen.
