Text Jeremiah 25: 1-14
Every day, for twenty three years, Jeremiah had told the Israelites to repent and worship God, the Creator, but they refused (v.7). So the Lord promised them seventy years of captivity (v. 11). The Israelites neither listened to Jeremiah nor any of the other prophets sent by God (v.4) . It is re-assuring that prophet Jeremiah repeated the same message of repentance for twenty three years, and, despite its rejection, he persevered.
Today, a number of church leaders are motivated by numbers, and where there are no numbers they begin to doubt their calling, even within a short time. Let us learn from Jeremiah that we do not need to give up but persist. What is important is to present Christ clearly and be faithful in presenting the Word of God. Preach the message of repentance and forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ and not miracles. After all, the greatest miracle a person will ever get is to receive Christ as His personal Saviour.
Meditate on verse 4. What is God teaching you in this verse? How are you
going to respond to it?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that people will listen to Your Word and repent and have both temporal and eternal fellowship with You. Amen.
