Text: Isaiah 36:1-22
“But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the LORD our God,’ is it not He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away…” verse 7 (NKJV). The Assyrian King was very powerful for he had overrun many of his neighbouring nations making him arrogant to the extent of daring God, the Creator of the universe. The Assyrian commander Rabshakeh thought Israel was then very weak after King Hezekiah made reforms by removing idols in order to worship the true God. To Assyrians who worshipped idols and many gods to worship one God in Solomon’s temple, in one place, was very strange to them. Yet this was Israel’s strength, worshiping the true God. Indeed this King of Assyrian was later defeated (37:36-38). In Christ, humble yourself and the Lord will defeat your enemies.
Meditate on verses 21-22. How are you going to apply them to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to continue praying to You the only Lord and let my silence be strategic in the presence of my enemies. Amen.
