Text: Jōb 17:1-16
Jōb admits to being spiritually exhausted, and he is surrounded by people who mock him and his circumstances. Therefore, v3, Jōb asks God to say something that would prove Jōb right and silence the mockers. However, those who are righteous, vv.8-9, are disturbed by how Jōb is being treated, but they do not let go of their faith.
Many Christians have given up their faith because of sufferings and other great challenges. Their thinking might be, “If I am suffering this way, then God is not real, or He’s weak, or He is not good”, etc. So they stop believing. Jesus warned that such things can bring the end of faith. In the parable of the soils, some seed fell among thorns and the life of the grain was choked (Luk.8:14). You and I will face great difficulties in this life. Do not leave the Lord. Always remember and never forget. Troubles are designed by God for each of us for the purpose of removing ungodliness and making us to be more like Christ – sanctification. Do not quit. Soon the suffering will be over, and we will enjoy the eternal, peaceful day with God.
Meditate on verses 8-9. What is God teaching you in these verses?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, in times of difficulties help me to focus on You. Tame my tongue that I may not sin against You. Amen.
