Text: 1Kings 16:1-34
Beginning with v.21, we read of a division in the northern kingdom. Omri and Tibni are the two men who were made kings over the two parts of the kingdom.
Those following Omri would prove to be stronger and would overpower and defeat Tibni. Though Omri had military strength, spiritually he was as corrupt as Jeroboam, so the kingdom continued in idolatry.

Warfare and division among humanity will never end until Christ returns. But division will not be found in God’s Kingdom. Mere human leaders will not be able to accomplish perfect unity because all humans are sinful, prideful, and weak. That is why Jesus, God the eternal Son, is King of the Church. Only He is able to keep the unity of His Kingdom, His body, the Church. We all are members of the one body of Christ (1 Cor.12:4-31), and by His grace we all must work together at oneness, at unity (Eph.4:3).

Meditate on verse 18-19. What is God teaching you in these verses?
My heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray You do not treat me according to my sins. I pray for forgiveness and unity of Your Church. Amen.
