Text: Hosea 3:1-5
It looks like Hosea’s wife did not want to settle down into a normal life.
With time, she grew bored and wanted something more exciting, like a new boyfriend. Yet Hosea was not released from his covenant, just like Yahweh.
So, he buys, Gomer back from the new boyfriend, like a slave, or a contracted prostitute (vv.1-2). What an incredible act of love and mercy!
And isn’t this the way our heavenly Father pursues us? We cannot possibly
run away from Him! So often we convince ourselves that our sin is great, and our stubbornness so deep, that there is no way back. But nothing is impossible with God. He chases after us, He goes deep into our soul and brings us back to Himself! (v.5). Ask the Lord to create a clean heart in you, and renew your spirit, so that you would seek Him and Him alone!
Meditate on verse 5. How are you going to apply it to your life?
My heavenly Father, I pray that this nation will repent of all her sins and return to You. In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
