Text: Deuteronomy 6:4-9.
Yesterday’s passage teaches about the importance of the “negative” side of discipline. Today we will consider the “positive” side. (Of course, both sides are necessary for positive results.) Children are to be raised under the instruction of God’s Word. Look again at the passage and note the several ways God’s Word is to be brought into family life: heart, taught and discussed during normal activities, bed-time, morning-time, hands, head, doors, gates – in other words, all of life is touched by the word of God! In this way, a child will be nurtured, guided, and raised in the Lord.
Parents, you must purpose to do this, as it will not happen accidentally.

Reflect on verse 4, what is the Bible teaching you in this verse? How are you going to apply verse 5 to your life?
My heavenly Father, thank You for creating me in Your own image.

Give the ability to love You with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my might. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.
