Text: 1 John 2: 1-17.
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him”, verse 15. Worldliness is both external and internal. External in the sense of the places we go to or some activities we enjoy. It is internal because it begins from the heart, for example, craving for physical pleasure and physical designs, craving for everything we see. This involves coveting and worshipping the god of materialism and pride from the possession that we have achieved.
A godly father has a sense of self control and spirit of generosity and therefore a humble spirit.

Reflect on verse 15, what is God teaching you in this verse, and how are you going to apply it to your life?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that I will not crave for things of this world. Give me the spirit of self control and generosity.
Kill the spirit of materialism in me. Amen.
