The ACP Team is grateful to God for His faithfulness for the Cathedral Building project, now in Phase 3 which is the completion phase. Over the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown season, the new Sanctuary was fully plastered internally and external works for storm water drainage, paving, boundary fencing and gates were done. Thank you, for your continued support.

Project completion for all works and installations is anticipated by the end of the year 2023 as follows:
a) By end of June 2023 – all Interior works for the Sanctuary will be completed – fully closed, Acoustic Ceiling, floor finishes, all internal finishes and with electro-mechanical installations
b) By October 2023 – all Exterior works – Walls (slanting, bell tower and every wall surface) to be cladded, pending offices (on lower ground) and any other pending works to be completed.
c) Between October – December 2023 – to prepare for full commissioning of the completed project and obtaining of Occupation Permit. Christmas next year 2023 should therefore mark the full take-over of the new Cathedral.

The above roadmap can be achieved earlier depending on availability of resources.

Brethren, the finishing line is near, do not despair! We encourage you to continue to: Pray, Participate, Provide and (mobilize) Partners for this great work as we honor God.

B. TECHNICAL STATUS
The project is in the hands of Consultants and the site remains under restricted access. The key challenge still hindering continuation of full-scale site works is delayed acquisition of the Building Permit required from KCCA pending resolution of plot 4 ownership.

Currently, the following works are on-going:

  • Lot 6A – Floor Finishes in Terrazzo (for high traffic and wet areas), practically completed pending thematic landings. Terrazzo Masters will proceed to do all floor finishes for the entire Bell Tower.
  • Lot 8A – Windows to Vertical Walls – 80% complete
  • Lot 9 – Acoustic Ceiling – On 15th Sep-
tember 2022, Council had approved the Contract Award for Ceiling Works. Unfortu-nately, the Contract negotiations with the
Selected Contractor failed because the Bidder decided to increase the Bid amount at that pre-contract stage, which was not acceptable. The procurement cycle was
    therefore cancelled.

Due to interfaces and overlaps in works and installations for the various Lots of Works, and the need to harmonize specifications and sequencing of site activities, a single procurement cycle for all pending scope for Interior Works has been initiated under a Restricted Tendering Method, to save time.

Bids for Completion Works for Interiors were returned on 14th October 2022. It is anticipated that Bid evaluation, Contract Award and signing of the Works Contract will be concluded early November, 2022.
