Text: Genesis 37:1-20.
“Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a robe of many colors.
But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him”, verses 3 and 4. When Jacob made a robe for Joseph because he loved him more than the rest, it aggravated the already strained relationship between
Joseph and his brothers. A father may not change the feelings toward the favorite child but his action towards the rest should not provoke animosity.
Reflection on verse 3, what lesson is God teaching you here? Is there favoritism in your family? How can favoritism in a family be handled so
that it does not divide this particular family.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for wisdom on the part of parents that their actions towards any one of their children will not
divide the family. Amen.
