Text: 1 Samuel 20:30-33.
“Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him,
“You son of a perverse, rebellious woman, do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your
mother’s nakedness?” verse 30. From uncontrolled anger, Saul called his own beloved son “son of perverse and rebellious woman”. Why was
Saul now derogating his son and attacking his mother? Fathers do not utter negative words to your children. They may look small but their hurt will be big.
Reflect on verse 30, How do you think Saul should have talked to his son? What wrong had Jonathan committed? What lesson do you learn
from the verse?
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for the forgiveness of fathers and parents in general who abuse their children. Bring about their
repentance. Amen.
