Text: Genesis 18:1-21.
“For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness
and justice, so that the LORD may bring to Abraham what he has promised him”, verse 19. The father should exercise authority and
enforce law and order to his household so that they keep the way of the Lord. The rules should be simple, clear and reasonable and inflexible.
The Scripture teaches us that fathers should discipline their children.
“Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, “but the rod of discipline drives it far from him’” Proverbs 22:15.
Reflect on verse 19, what is God teaching you in that verse, and how are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to be available to my children. Teach me how to give simple, clear, reasonable and inflexible guidelines to our children so that they are disciplined.
This is to the glory of Your name. Amen.
