Exodus 31:1-12
While Israel was at Mt. Sinai, God gave instructions for constructing the Tabernacle, the place of worship. Everyone is a sinner and deserves the death penalty. But God graciously provided for His people the way of deliverance – an animal would serve as a substitute, dying instead of the person. The Tabernacle was a beautiful place that was to be built according to Yahweh’s exact instructions. God gave skill to Bezalel, and others, for craftsmanship in wood, stone, precious stones, and other kinds of expertise.
Bezalel is not the only one who was given skill for a task. God’s gifts of skill and ability are not just for fine arts (painting, music, design, etc.). As we read yesterday, whatever you are able to do is a gift from God. He gives everyone
the abilities they have. There are also spiritual gifts (1 Cor.12). Because we are all members of the body of Christ, we all have a function, a role to play. No believer has nothing to do. But whether you are serving in the Church, on the
job, at home, or in the neighborhood, do your work as worship unto the Lord.
Meditate on verses 1-5. What is God teaching you in these verses?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You for the skill You have given me. Help me use it for Your glory. Amen.
