Exodus 1:1-22
Because of a famine, Jacob and his family left their home in Canaan and settled in Egypt. Life was good for them there, and they began to increase in number.
They became so populous that the king of Egypt and his people became afraid of the Israelites. It was decided that Israelites should be forced into slavery. But this did not stop the growth of Israelites. In fact, the Jews continued to increase, because they were God’s people, and He continued to bless them until the day He brought them deliverance. God would send a deliverer who would unleash destruction on Egypt and lead the people of Israel to their own land.
When Adam sinned, it did not only create a rift between God and man, sin also brought strife between human beings. Human beings treat one another horribly. We often, easily, treat our loved ones and friends poorly. Jesus not
only came to restore His people back to God, He also restores relationships between people, including work relationships. If you are an employer, do not treat your workers like slaves, treat them well. One of the reasons God puts you in authority is to serve those who are under you. Give your workers a good wage so that they can support their families properly. This will please your Heavenly Father, and your work will be a form of worship.
Meditate on verse 13. How are you going to respond to it?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to treat well every one especially those who work for me. Amen.
