Text: Nehemiah 6:1-19
Several times the enemies of God’s people try to persuade Nehemiah to
meet with them. Their plan was to kill him at that meeting. He knew they had no interest in the city, and he was aware of their plot, so he refused to go.
Nehemiah was not intimidated by their threats, and he continued the good
work. In fifty two days the wall was completed. Now the enemies were the
ones intimidated (v.16).
Jesus, the perfect Kingdom builder, was constantly confronted by opposition, and the enemies of truth were frequently looking for opportunities to kill Him.
But Jesus was never intimidated, their threats had no effect, and He continued the work of His earthly ministry. It was impossible to thwart His eternal plan of salvation, including His death on the cross, according to His pre-determined time. We are a blessed people to belong to such a King. Put your hand to the work, in confidence, in spite of opposition.
Meditate on verse 3. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me the understanding that serving You is a great work, and therefore I should not be side-tracked. Amen.
