Text: Nehemiah 4:1-23
As the people of God are re-building the walls, the enemies became very angry and visited the construction site. The enemies mocked the builders, saying the work was impossible to do, and what they did was weak. However, the project continued; and it was later learned that the enemies were going to come and attack them. Understandably the people became discouraged (v.5). It was decided that the workers would also carry weapons and have guards at night.

God was frustrating the plans of the enemies’ (v.15).
If a person can be discouraged when building a wall, how much more discouraged will he be when he is mocked for working at something seen only by faith! Jesus was mocked for the friends He had and for the work He did. Even when they murdered Him, they mocked while He was dying. Kingdom work will always be opposed somehow. We, too, will be mocked, as it is for many of our brethren around the world. Many of them are even killed. Discouragement is understandable, but let us persevere! Our weapons are not swords or guns.

Our weapons are spiritual (2 Cor.10:3-5) – prayer and the Bible’s message of
God’s grace in Jesus Christ. Jesus has already won this war. Press on, brethren!

One day all of this seemingly difficulty work will be finished.
Meditate on verse 4. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Heavenly Father, the Lord of heaven and earth, silence and frustrate the plans of our enemies. Amen.
