Text: 2 Chronicles 28:1-27
Jotham’s son, Ahaz, becomes King of Judah, and he is a very godless man. The first four verses of the chapter are a short list of his evil deeds, which is what?
Idolatry! He worshipped many gods (demons) on the high places, the hills, and under the trees. But the worst of it, he even killed his sons by putting them into the fires, which were inside the images of the false gods. Why would he do
that? One reason is sure; he was not a converted man, he was spiritually dead, an enemy of life, so he naturally worshipped false gods, including the use of murder.
Our King Jesus reigns in righteousness and life. He does not kill His sons, He brings them out of death and unites them to Himself, the source of all life.
We are more than blessed! Sadly, there are millions of people who put their
children to death by abortion, as they worship the gods of this world. Abortions are performed because people worship the god of sexual fun, but do not want the responsibility; or perhaps they serve the god of career; etc. Of course, some women are frightened and do not know what to do. Let us be quick to help them and save their babies.
Meditate on verse 22. What are you learning from this verse?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, in times of distress help me not to abandon You, instead draw me more to Yourself. Amen.
