Text: 2 Chronicles 27:1-9
The passage tells us that Jotham was a good king. He learned from his father not to enter the Temple in an improper way. He worshipped properly, and God made him mighty because “he ordered his ways before Yahweh his God” (v.6).
That means Jotham ruled, and lived his life, according to God’s Word. However, he did not lead his people to serve Yahweh. Rather, he let the people continue in their idolatry.
King Jesus will not do such a thing. He loves His Father perfectly, and He will not let His people indulge in evil worship, because it will destroy them. Good parents will not let their children do what is harmful, and Christian parents especially should not let their children participate in false worship. That will put the children’s souls under the condemnation of God’s wrath. There is no absolute guarantee of salvation, but we have a mandate to raise our children in the Lord (Eph.6:4).
Meditate on verse 6. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, guide my steps always. Amen.
