Text: Amos 6:1-14.
Amos pointed his attacks to those living complacent and luxurious lives in Judah and Israel (vv.1-6). Your wealth and comfort may deceive you that you are secure, but God requires you not to neglect the needs of the poor around you. God does not entertain selfishness. Learn to put the needs of others before yours. Pride had destroyed many cities (v.2). The luxurious houses had numbed people into arrogance (vv.8-11). They had become a source of pride
and somehow turned into “gods”. God promises to destroy all, great and small (v.11). It is good to have great resources, but do not let them take the place of God. God cannot share His glory with anything else. Let Christ be your all in all.
Meditate on verse 11, How are you going to respond to it?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me focus on You in gratitude for the many things You have given me. Amen.
