Text: 1 Chronicles 22:1-19
We remember that the book of 1 Chronicles was written when the people of Israel were returned from exile and were to rebuild the Temple. Restoration of the Temple and worship are essential themes of this book. Yahweh did not allow David to participate in the actual building project, but He allowed David to procure materials and give instruction and encouragement to his son, Solomon, who will supervise the building.
This training and preparing from one generation to the next is discipleship.
Worship is the number one priority for the Lord in raising up His people. Each of us should have in mind to instruct the next generation. It might be as a parish minister; perhaps it is as a Sunday school teacher; perhaps in raising your own children in the Lord; perhaps just teaching a neighbor. All believers are being built together to be the Temple (1 Pet. 2:4), God’s dwelling, and we all are called to join the building-project
Meditate on verse 11. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me build Your Kingdom in the hearts of men and women. Amen.
